Menstrual Disorders

The menstrual cycle is a natural part of a woman's life, beginning from early adolescence until menopause. During this time, you will have a cycle that lasts for roughly 28 days, where a fluctuation of hormones prepares the uterus and body for pregnancy. When the egg is not fertilised, the uterus sheds its lining through the vagina in what we know as our period.

The average length of a menstrual cycle is 28 days, with the period lasting from 4-7 days. However, it's common for the length of your cycle to fluctuate. Other common symptoms of a regular menstrual cycle include the following:

  • Bloating
  • Cramps
  • Skin breakouts
  • Painful breasts

It's important to remember that everyone's menstrual cycle is unique, symptoms of a normal period may fluctuate, and you can experience any or all of the above.
