Fertility Assessment

If you have been wanting a family but are struggling to fall pregnant, you may be feeling alone or hopeless. Of course, these are normal feelings, but it's important to remember that you are not alone, as many couples go through difficulties with pregnancy.

Dr Hassim will help you establish the underlying cause through a comprehensive fertility assessment. Then, through various tests, she can diagnose if there is an issue, what's causing it, and how to treat it.

When to have a fertility assessment

In most cases, you should consider a fertility assessment if you have been trying to fall pregnant for a year or more with no success. Other signs that you may have infertility concerns include:

  • Frequent miscarriages
  • A heavy, absent or irregular period
  • Issues with ovulation
  • Problems with the reproductive system, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries or uterus
  • Reproductive disorders, such as endometriosis or PCOS
  • A partner with male infertility

If you have concerns about your fertility or simply want to know more about conceiving, Dr Hassim is ready to welcome you to her practice for an in-depth consultation about your reproductive health.

During a fertility assessment

The fertility assessment involves discussing your fertility journey, medical history and reproductive health with you and your partner (if applicable). Dr Hassim will ask you a series of questions to understand the issues you have been experiencing. Then, she may advise a few assessments to determine a proper diagnosis.

Assessments you can expect:

  • Menstrual cycle and ovulation tracking
  • A pelvic examination
  • Ultrasound imaging of the ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes
  • Blood tests

If you need further tests, Dr Hassim will provide a referral for an infertility specialist.
